Since fairies are immortal beings, the ones who commit blatant crimes against nature are cursed by mages to enter a solitary existence as slime molds. The more tears they shed, the greater the fungi grows, and the further their visages become absorbed in the orange goop. While every mage is resolute in enacting such punishment, killing them may free the fairies under this hex. However a fairy’s mind is naturally hyperactive and malleable, so it doesn’t take long for such confinement to eat away at their mental state. Most end up losing their identities as fairies, convinced they’d been slime molds all along and acting accordingly.
